Everybody who isn’t aware of the existence of the Trompettersteeg (trumpeter alley), would surely miss this sight. Very logical since the alley is just a few centimeters wider than a regular door.

1. What is the Trompettersteeg?

The Trompettersteeg the narrowest alley in Amsterdam. It is located in the Red Light District on the Oudezijds Voorburgwal, and it is only 1 meter wide! It is a popular sight to visit and many guides like to take you to this alley. Although the city of Amsterdam have closed some windows, the alley still has many ladies of pleasure occupying the windows.
What can you expect?
For some people 1 meter wide doesn’t sound that narrow, but you need to bear that it can be very claustrophobic. When the Red Light District awakens, many clients and tourists like to experience this narrow alley. Sometimes it is so busy, that it can take up to a couple of minutes before you reach the end of the alley. Due to this bustle you need to beware for pickpockets!

3. Where is it located?
The Trompettersteeg is located at the Red Light District and can be found between the entrances of Oudezijds Voorburgwal 86 and 88.
4. How to get there?
By foot
It is very easy to get to the Trompettersteeg. Just walk to the east side of the Central Station and cross the main street: Prins Hendrikkade. Behind the church, you’ll see from the station, you shall find your destination at the Oudezijds Voorburgwal.
By public transport
No need to take public transport, as you can walk from the Central Station.
By car
It is not recommended to go to this place by car. You could try to park your place somewhere near the Central Station.
